Propane is an energy-efficient fuel commonly used in equipment like forklifts, fleet vehicles, irrigation pumps, power generation etc. Since it is also frequently used in everything, from home barbecues to automobiles, it is easy to forget that propane presents extreme dangers if not handled safely. Operators must note that this fuel IS safe to use if used within industry and government standards and with a measure of common sense. Knowing the risks associated with its use, all forklift workers must receive a primary propane safety course approved by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority or TSSA.
Amaze Forklift Training has put together a TSSA-approved training course (Classroom training session+practical) to provide an overview of safe handling and storage procedures and the importance of awareness. Trainees are also taught different prompt responses in case of an accident. At the end of the course, each trainee will receive certification for the safe handling and exchanging of propane cylinders. It will certify the recipient’s competency to handle and store propane and compliance with the legal requirements to work with the fuel.
